“Missed Opportunities”
Text: Luke 2: 1-7
Some years ago at a Resort Area along the East Coast, a small community was having an open town meeting about some financial problems that they were facing.
Among the two dozen or so people was one man no one seemed to know who was apparently visiting in that area & had just dropped in on the meeting.
He started to make a comment once as various projects were considered, but he was interrupted; so for t… Continue

Thanks.

Doubtless each of us will come across one of the many film and television versions of Charles Dicken’s 1843 classic work “A Christmas Carol.” I admittedly enjoy the Alastair Sim version from 1951. In the book, I look forward to the end of the visitation by the spirit of Christmas present, it has haunted me since I was a child. Here is the excerpt from the work as not all film versions include this provocati… Continue

The Sin of Just Talking a Good Game
(Sermon notes take from a book called Yes, Lord, I Have Sinned: But I Have Several Excellent by James W. Moore.)
Matthew 23:23-28 NLT - "How terrible it will be for you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest part of your income, but you ignore the important things of the law-justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but you should… Continue
Welcome to the Tribulation
Matthew 24:9-24:14
This is the Lord’s final message on the End of the World, which is only the beginning of eternity! The ‘beginning of sorrows’ speaks of the birth pangs this world will feel both before the rapture and during the first portion of the Great Tribulation.
You won’t find the church in this passage because… Continue

End Times Posse: The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
Revelation 6:1-6:8
End Times Posse
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
Rev. 6:1-8
The next event on God’s prophetic timetable is the rapture of the church. But after the church is taken out of here, meanwhile…back on earth, there will follow a 7 year period like this earth has never experienced before. The Bible calls it the Great Tribulation. Chapters 6-19 paint for us a graphic picture of this gruesome period…it is so terrible / frighten… Continue
Thank you all for your prayers... My son David is recovering well. It seems quite sure now that he will heal normally. He has about a year of healing and rehab in his future, so do pray that the Lord will reach him during this time. Continue
On Saturday evening at about 11:30 I got word that my dear 26 year old son had to have the first two fingers of his right hand amputated at the first joint after stumbling while mowing the lawn.I had to go down to our local level one trauma center in Buffalo where surgeons worked valiantly for many hours to save them but in the end could save only his ring finger. His pinky finger was only nicked. Please pray that this loss of my son's fingertips will bring him closer to God as he has been at so… Continue
I have just spent a bit of time writing to you about some various things, but the page timed out and I lost it all. So let us try again.
First, at this time, the moving of our church headquarters to Memphis is on hold. It is clear that God is doing something and so let us wait on Him to do it. It will be in His timing and His way, so let us thank and praise him for such direct control of our lives.
Next, I would like to be free to travel to visit some of you. Three or four stops over a week or… Continue

Just some information about me and my ministry in Barre Vermont. Back in Aug.2007 I relocated to VT from the Great state of Tennessee, I came up to work missions with the Southern Baptist {planting churches}. After several months I wasn't having much sucess raising funds for a new church. So my wife and I along with my grandson decided it was time to go back to Tennessee. But the Lord had other plans for me, we were invited to a Christmas program at a local Methodist Church in Barre when I met Pa… Continue

I had a wonderful talk last night with one of our members about revival. That's got me thinking. One of the reasons we have no revival today is that there is virtually no mutual support across faith communities. This is especially true among those in the independent movement. When they hear that another group or clergy member is having problems, they are more likely to spread rumors than to open their hearts and help. There are numerous examples in the New Testament of one church helping another… Continue
